A Breath of Fresh Air

Well I have to say that I love when God’s word is like a breath of fresh air. Especially when you are just feeling overwhelmed.

I will finish updating you on the previous blog as Daniel and I did find a new car. I always find it how God seems to work out all of these little details for His glory.

The day of the accident we went and took a look at a $1000.00 car.  We got there and it wouldn’t start (not a great sign), got it started and took it for a short drive and Daniel says nope this isn’t it. We really were not in any kind of state of mind to make a decision on a car anyway.  So we decided we needed to wait for the car God was going to provide.

The next day while at the lake a friend says other friends of ours have a car just up the road from you guys. So we decided we would keep it in mind.

I really knew that God had a plan and that we just had to wait and be patient and it would work itself out.

Last spring Daniel had driven over a hitch that had fell off the truck ahead of him and damaged the transmission of his car. At that time they didn’t want to give us very much for his car, he managed to convince them to let him fix the car. This year after his accident they gave us $1000.00 more than they were going to give us last year for the car.

Earlier in the week we went to see the car that friends of ours up the road had for sale. We took it for a drive and really liked this car. There was a rejection sticker on it, however it seemed to be an easy fix. They wanted $1000.00 for it. We didn’t want to make any decisions until we knew if we could afford it as we were still waiting on the insurance company.

When the insurance company called Daniel to let him know what they were going to give us he quickly realized that with the little bit of extra money, we could pay off his student loan.

So all in all God has still amazed me in this whole situation, I really didn’t expect to get very much for his car let alone enough extra to pay off a loan. Praise the Lord!! God is Good all the time!!

Today I was reminded yet again of my life verse, as I looked at a website that I had just been given to look at. At the top of the page I was viewing I found Phil 4:19 “And my God will meet all of your needs according to his riches in Christ Jesus.” (NIV)

It was a breath of fresh air for me. Sometimes it’s easy to get discouraged over something simple like the unexpected cost of another fee. However knowing that we are in God’s will, and that he will provide I am able to recall James 1:2 “consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.” (NIV)

Just like God has provided more than I could have imagined through this I wait to see what He has in store for us next.

Leaving the Glory to the Lord

Well what weekend.

Thursday we received some good news that Choices is finalizing the details for Maritime provinces to adopt from the Democratic Republic of  Congo (DRC). This is exciting news for us as we have been trying to pursue this avenue for about a month yet and still felt like we were treading water. So hopefully we will have more details on that coming next week, then we can go ahead with getting the requirements and proceed with our home study.

We have been working hard to save any penny that we can so that we can pay for adoption fees as they come up. I even stopped buying coffee from Country Style on a daily basis at work as I can save about $40.00 a month

Saturday as Daniel was on his way home from work he was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was in a car accident in front of DQ in town, and his vehicle is completely demolished, yup looks like he was participating in the Derby that day. I was in Bangor with a friend and he didn’t tell me until I got home, when I asked where his car was.

I have to say I was upset and angry as we have worked so hard to save money to cover adoption fees, and now we need a new car. We don’t know what the insurance company is going to provide us with for purchasing a new car, and we are guessing they are not going to want to fix his. So we are in the market for a new to us vehicle. That was definitely not in my plan. As his car was to last until we needed a larger vehicle, or had no car payment left.

I have a sort of life verse that I have been meditating on all week, and is the subtitle of my blog. Funny how 4 years ago a friend can preach on a verse that was very significant then and is also significant in this scenario as well, and actually every day of my life if I really think about it.

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 ESV

Roughly 4 years ago I had an infection in my wisdom teeth and had to have them surgically removed in the US, this was a procedure that the wait list was too long for me to have them done in Canada, and being on a border town this was the best option. This procedure cost us around 3,000 dollars that we really didn’t have at the time. So we thought we were going to have to put this on Credit, and pay the interest until we can pay it off. Well little did we realize but God had a bigger plan in mind. We were both working full time and that month there were 5 paychecks for each of us, which covered the fees that were involved for the removal of my 4 wisdom teeth. Yahoo God had this all figured out and provided for us!!!

Well as hard as it seems today in this scenario, and as frustrated as I am by this whole situation. Daniel and I were talking last night and he said he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, however for whatever reason it seemed like God had him in that place at just the right time. Not sure for what, but only to somehow through this whole situation that the Glory would belong to the Lord.

So all of this to say after I took a step back, took a breath I can honestly say  “Lord whatever your will is for this situation, I believe you will provide as you always have in the past, I’m leaving this for your Glory.”

So as I take the back seat and let Jesus drive the car of our lives I await to see how he provides for this.

I’ll share when I receive an answer.
