“We began the adoption process a couple of years ago. We attended a weekend in Saint John to give us more information about the process and what was and was not available to us. It was a great weekend to get away, together and meet other couples that are looking at going through the same or similar process.
When we got the next large portion of paperwork we did what we thought was going to be the ‘hard’ stuff first to get it out of the way. Then we were left with what felt like a mountain of questions about who we were and where we were adopting from.
In New Brunswick we have to have the country decided on, and enrolled in a program before we can start our home-study. After looking at all the programs that we were not eligible for because of age or years of marriage requirements we started to wonder if this was really what God had in store for us. But we knew that He has the ultimate plan that maybe we cannot even see it yet.
After finding out that a program we were about to pursue was closed we were advised that there are two new programs that have opened up to us in NB the Congo seemed to be the one that was really calling out to us.
We wanted to adopt 2 at the same time if possible. It was a longing that we really never expected. But over the years have learned to follow God’s will for our lives as He knows best. It was kinda funny, on the way to church one Sunday morning as we were driving down our road, I looked at my husband and said “Hunny I think we are to adopt 2 at the same time.” He glanced over at me and said “I agree” It’s really neat when God shares something with both of us at the same time.
So here we are on a road to adoption with the plans of adopting two little ones between the ages of 0-3yrs. It’s a road that we are excited to travel, and a road that we will have many God stories to tell.
When we found out we couldn’t have any Biological children I said to my Doctor with tears streaming down my face that if we are to travel down this road to help someone else, or learn something that we need to share with someone else it’s all worth it. It will be all worth it when we are able to hold our two little ones in our arms. Oh I can only imagine that day.
We are finishing up our home-study, and working to pay off debt so that we can get our dossier ready.
Believing in Provision is the name of our Blog, based off of Phil 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus”. I prayed and prayed over what to call it, I believe that name is very fitting. We are waiting on God to provide the provisions for our adoption. If it’s saving money and paying off debt that’s great but we still need the rest of the funds.
As we embark on a journey like no other would you consider supporting us financially, or through prayer? Together we can see what God can do.
