Fundraising

Sometimes you think you go to church to hear a sermon, this Sunday God brought me to church to listen to a friend and some simple yet very good advice. Thanks Fred!!

Sunday morning at church during lunch I was talking to some old co-workers. I used to work at a bookstore called the King is Coming Christian store, and as we were talking about all things adoption I was kindly reminded that maybe I shouldn’t get hung up on the materialistic things, like setting up a baby room right now, or what that might look like in the future.

So I said to Daniel on the way home on Sunday “I really think I’ve been thinking selfishly, in that I thought somehow the money would just show up and God would miraculously provide.” Well I can say I do believe that God is going to provide us the funding for our adoption but this doesn’t mean that I can sit on my butt and wait for the money to land in my bank account.

A couple of weeks ago we were presented with the opportunity to fund-raise through an organization that just began here in Canada. A friend that I have met through another blog and who is also adopting from the Democratic Republic of the Congo really noticed that in Canada we don’t often have the opportunity to fund-raise like they do in the US. So her and her husband have started a website where 50% of the purchase will go to an adoption agency for affiliate families. If you would like to support us in this way you can follow the link http://oncewaslost.storenvy.com/ and all you have to do is place our names “Daniel and Krista Nickerson” into the notes to the seller field and 50% of your purchase will go to our agency in B.C.

Last week another friend of mine said that we should have a BBQ and Bonfire at our place and put out a jar and any donations are welcome. This week Daniel said maybe we should see about doing a pie fundraiser as it was his favorite way to fund-raise money.

Now I am asking you What is your favorite Fundraiser?
