Leaving the Glory to the Lord

Well what weekend.

Thursday we received some good news that Choices is finalizing the details for Maritime provinces to adopt from the Democratic Republic of  Congo (DRC). This is exciting news for us as we have been trying to pursue this avenue for about a month yet and still felt like we were treading water. So hopefully we will have more details on that coming next week, then we can go ahead with getting the requirements and proceed with our home study.

We have been working hard to save any penny that we can so that we can pay for adoption fees as they come up. I even stopped buying coffee from Country Style on a daily basis at work as I can save about $40.00 a month

Saturday as Daniel was on his way home from work he was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was in a car accident in front of DQ in town, and his vehicle is completely demolished, yup looks like he was participating in the Derby that day. I was in Bangor with a friend and he didn’t tell me until I got home, when I asked where his car was.

I have to say I was upset and angry as we have worked so hard to save money to cover adoption fees, and now we need a new car. We don’t know what the insurance company is going to provide us with for purchasing a new car, and we are guessing they are not going to want to fix his. So we are in the market for a new to us vehicle. That was definitely not in my plan. As his car was to last until we needed a larger vehicle, or had no car payment left.

I have a sort of life verse that I have been meditating on all week, and is the subtitle of my blog. Funny how 4 years ago a friend can preach on a verse that was very significant then and is also significant in this scenario as well, and actually every day of my life if I really think about it.

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 ESV

Roughly 4 years ago I had an infection in my wisdom teeth and had to have them surgically removed in the US, this was a procedure that the wait list was too long for me to have them done in Canada, and being on a border town this was the best option. This procedure cost us around 3,000 dollars that we really didn’t have at the time. So we thought we were going to have to put this on Credit, and pay the interest until we can pay it off. Well little did we realize but God had a bigger plan in mind. We were both working full time and that month there were 5 paychecks for each of us, which covered the fees that were involved for the removal of my 4 wisdom teeth. Yahoo God had this all figured out and provided for us!!!

Well as hard as it seems today in this scenario, and as frustrated as I am by this whole situation. Daniel and I were talking last night and he said he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, however for whatever reason it seemed like God had him in that place at just the right time. Not sure for what, but only to somehow through this whole situation that the Glory would belong to the Lord.

So all of this to say after I took a step back, took a breath I can honestly say  “Lord whatever your will is for this situation, I believe you will provide as you always have in the past, I’m leaving this for your Glory.”

So as I take the back seat and let Jesus drive the car of our lives I await to see how he provides for this.

I’ll share when I receive an answer.

  1. Krista, I’m glad for you to be sharing this as it really does give me hope for all of us. I’m so excited for you two to adopt and i pray that all the pieces will fall in to place. Matt and i have been struggling, and i have such a hard time trying to get him to understand that there is a plan. I’ve had so many times in my life where I just felt like the world was against me, but they have all led me down a path i wouldn’t have taken in the first place. I’m so glad to hear Daniel is alright 🙂 Hopefully your “new” car will happen sooner than later.

  2. I’m loving the look of your blog and look forward to following along on your journey. Congratulations on getting accepted with Choices!!
Just today we got a $1000 bill for our car when we brought it in to get fixed . . . actually there was $2000 worth of stuff they wanted to fix but only $1000 was necessary at this point (you know, if we wanted to actually drive the car). It seems like these types of things always pop up when you are trying to save money for something important -like an adoption. It is a test of faith, that is for sure!
